The winter that was

Back in Autumn 2005, fears of a cold winter and potential gas supply shortfalls pushed forward prices for Q1’06 to previously unknown levels above 70p/therm, or even 90p/therm during a price spike in November. Later on in February, a fire at the Rough storage facility, knocked out the UK ’s largest storage facility for the remainder of the winter. This article provides a review of what was, and what might have been, in winter 05/06. For more information see NationalGrid’s initial consultation on Winter 2006/07 published on the Ofgem website at:  http://www.ofgem.gov.uk/temp/ofgem/cache/cmsattach/15058_8406b.pdf

thought of the month.

If you were poor fifty years ago, it meant you didn't have enough to eat. If you're poor now, it means you only have one car.
