MJMEnergy training goes online ! MJMEnergy has taken a major step with the launch of our first online training package. In the Autumn of 2008 EFET (the European Federation of Energy Traders) commissioned MJMEnergy to develop a specialist online Back Office Training Programme. Working in collaboration with an EFET review group drawn from RBSSempra, Total, Vattenfall, RWE and Electrabel, MJMEnergy launched the BOTP on EFET’s 10th Anniversary, 22nd April 2009. Online training offers many advantages to companies, it’s flexible, available at any time, and can be tailored to meet customer requirements. It’s efficient, leading to less time out of the office and lower travel costs, and it can be a highly cost-effectives means of delivering high quality training material. It also supports internal learning and development tracking, and provides links to further resources. The Back Office Training Programme is designed to be a web-based resource that staff from many energy trading companies can utilise to gain understanding of the key principles and practice of energy trading Back Office operations.
Above: A screen grab of the back office training programme showing pop detail which illustrates the text throughout all the modules The course covers six modules, each expected to take one to two hours to complete. In addition to the main course text, there is a notepad with additional information on each page and a detailed glossary and library with key documents such as standard agreements. The course modules are: 1. Energy Markets 2. Commodity Trading 3. Life Cycle of a Deal 4. Energy Market Risks 5. Back Office Tasks 6. Back Office Trading Simulation MJMEnergy worked to develop a style that meets customers’ requirements in terms of content and layout. We discovered that a primarily text-based medium worked well to convey complicated Back Office issues in a simple fashion. The material is multi-layered so that users can read the basics quickly or delve into the supporting material at more length. The BOTP has been developed for EFET to offer access on a subscription-basis. However, the introduction page for each module and the first five pages of Module 4: Energy Market Risks, are open access so that interested parties can gain a view of the course content before they subscribe. To access the training programme visit: http://www.mjmenergyonline.com/botp/efet_home.php Subscription is on per company basis, and may be for 1, 5 or unlimited users. The cost of the subscription is: EFET Members Non-EFET Members
To subscribe please visit: http://www.mjmenergyonline.com/botp/1pop.php Since BOTP launched we’ve had over forty users sign up for the system, with more expected in the near future. We plan to upgrade the infrastructure, and possibly extend the content over the coming months. In addition MJMEnergy is in discussion with other players about launching online training specific to their requirements.
