LNG Supply Crunch!

Up until the summer of 2008, the world was expecting a large LNG supply crunch in the coming few years. With rapid industrial expansion in the Far East, along with a growing preference for LNG over pipeline gas in many Western countries, demand was growing rapidly. Meanwhile delays or cancellations to a number of proposed liquefaction facilities led to concerns of a shortage of LNG supply over the next few years. Prices for short-term LNG cargoes reached as high as $18/MMBtu as Asian, European and US buyers scrabbled for available cargoes. At the same time, some voices were raised questioning the impact of the sellers’ market on future LNG demand. Petroleum Economist commented after the Gastech conference in Bangkok in May 2008 that “The growing shortages in LNG supply after 2010 could start to destroy demand, as potential buyers consider alternative fuels.”

The UK has the most liberalised gas market in the world, and has seen almost continual change and development from 1990 to the present day, with further changes expected due to ongoing market evolution and the forecast UK gas gap.
2nd April UK Electricity Markets The UK electricity market introduction one-day seminar provides an up-to-date overview of all the key factors and trends in this fast-moving market.
29th April UK Gas & Power This one-day course provides a clear overview of the UK gas and electricity industries and is an ideal introduction for staff without a background in the energy sector. The course addresses the basic principles and key commercial realities of the UK energy markets.
12th May LNG Economic Modelling This four-day course is designed to provide delegates with an overview of the key issues in modelling LNG economics. The course includes an introduction to the LNG industry as a whole, detailed analysis of each link in the LNG chain and modelling strategies for these links, case studies of real-life LNG projects, exercises in modelling to reinforce the key commercial and strategic issues covered.
1st June 21st Century Gas Regulation This three-day course has been specifically developed by MJMEnergy in order to explain both the background and practice of gas market regulation as well as providing suitable tools and intellectual and practical frameworks for parties involved in 21st Century gas regulation.

From the broader perspectives of contract structures and the future of gas purchasing to the specifics of understanding the effect of the spot market and tendering and supplier selection, the course will complement the understanding of those already working within the arena and provide an excellent foundation for those needing a full understanding of gas purchasing for commercial and industrial customers, small and large.
22nd June UK Gas Trading & Risk Management The UK gas trading market is the most liquid in Europe, and is known for its high volatility and sometimes extreme prices. The UK gas – trading and risk management one-day seminar provides a practical overview of the UK gas trading market and explores risk management strategies for gas market players.

All of our training courses can earn, participating solicitors, CPD points from the law society. Attendance at any of our events may also contribute to meeting accountancy CPD requirements under the terms of the ICAEW's CPD policy. Training News

MJMEnergy have recently acquired approval from The Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers to award CPD credit for attendance on all our training courses. This is in addition to our accreditation under The Solicitor’s Regulation Authority and potential ICAEW approval for accountants.
